You start with nothing. You take a few gem tokens, buy a cheap mine, and that mine makes the next one cheaper. Twenty minutes later you're buying cards for free and nobles are showing up at your door.

Race to 15 points. The satisfaction is watching your own engine outgrow everyone else's — and the chips are heavy enough that people pick them up just to hold them.
